The Blast Spotlight: Diverse

The Giant Blast: Why do you call yourself Diverse?
Diverse: If you look it up it means, "of various kinds or forms" I feel that is what represents my music the best. Showing different kinds and forms to give you music.

The Giant Blast: What do you feel that you are bringing to hip hop?
Diverse: I believe im bringing myself. Nothing super natural, nothing too flashy. Just real live music, that comes from real life experiences.

The Giant Blast: How would you describe yourself as a lyricist?
Diverse: I happen to be getting better by the song. Every song is structured different, so different sides come out, sometime you want more of a flow, or more lyrical content, as of now I think I'm in the right
"lyrical path" (laughs).

The Giant Blast: What type of beats bring out the best in you?
Diverse: The beats that are sooo dope they confuse you. Why? Because you don't know where to start from or how to approach it, but somehow your pen can't stop writing.

The Giant Blast: Who have you worked with so far?
Diverse: As far as artists, wow, let me see ummm, Praze, Raden M, Dyme A Duzin, Crucial, MajoR (TNR) those are just off the top of my head. As far as producers, I been blesses, fundamental from toronto, Big UPs! Also HyFyve, 21 The Producer from AZ, Very talented Young Man! Dude is Fuego! Praze I've worked with over the Years, Peruvian Black local cat from my city. Just a lot of hardworking individuals on their grind like me.

The Giant Blast: Who would you like to work with in the future?
Diverse: I would love to make a mixtape or album with all production By Fundamental, I think we understand each other and would make great music. In the future i'd love to work with Hopsin. He's a local rapper who I personally know.

The Giant Blast: What's in the future for Diverse?
Diverse: Wow, that's a BIG question, well hopefully the future holds a lot of BIG things. Like maybe my own website, bigger fan base, distribution for my music releases. The biggest of them all would be go on a Mini tour.

The Giant Blast: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Diverse: Can we ask Mike Jones? Haha (inside joke) 5 years from nooooow. That's a long time from now, that's out of my reach so its something I let god deal with and have I store for me. Hopefully still be alive and doing and making money from what I love doing... Music.

The Giant Blast: Where do you see hip hop in 5 years?
Diverse: Nowadays it's soo Bi Polar that who knows. One month we are jumping and snapping, and the next we are kissing chicks threw the phone, or having a fetish for lemonade. I'm hoping its A LOT better then its doing right now, i'll tell you that much.

The Giant Blast: How has it been like being with the Civil Mics Movement?
Diverse: Right now, I'm just a new comer, I'm the latest and Newest Member. But so far so good. Its a good place, a good home for artist to network and lend each other a hand for anything. Definitely glad for my decision of joining.

The Giant Blast: Where does Diverse draw his inspiration?
Diverse: I draw it from all the right places. Right from the gut, your instinct & Real Life experiences. Or sometimes just things that I see in my every day life, and would like to share it on wax.

The Giant Blast: What do you like to listen to in your spare time?
Diverse: The Radio!!........... sike. Haha. I love listening to real laid back fresh/raw/grimy sounding hip hop. I Love Slum village, Fantastic Vol 2 on constant rotation. Gotta love Little Brother and 9th Wonder, Elzhi, Blu & Exile, Black Milk, Common, MF Doom, Madlib, Madvilliany! Just things of that nature and of course gotta Bump that J. Dilla! My biggest inspiration in the fact that he had such a passion for music that you can really feel it in his work of art which were his beats.
Though I believe he is a very underrated rapper haha.

The Giant Blast: Aside from rapping what else does Diverse like to get into?
Diverse: I Love basketball. I Love playing it, I Love watching it. BIG Laker fan by the way. I'm actually pretty good at shooting hoops as well.  Also Playing that Xbox 360 on Live. Gears Of War 2. All Day Everyday!  Haha add Me: DiverSeTNR1 yeah can get it! (laughs) Other than that I'm a chill dude not a party guy type.

The Giant Blast: Is there anything you would like to shout out or plug?
Diverse: I want to send a shout out to my TopNotch Immediate family, FriSk, my brother from another mother. MajoR that's My big Bro! & Xpress that's the Nerd of the Fam, he knows it! Also Civil Mics wassup? Fist Up! and to all the people that took the time to read this, thank you. Last but not least founder of Civil Mics Movement and also My Manager Twist!
Goood Looking Bruh.

The Blast Spotlight: Abiss

The Giant Blast: Why do you call yourself Abiss?
Abiss: I was going through different names like "Amazon MC" and other names. My peeps start calling me "Abiss" when they really start hearing me spit. A lot of people were saying that I was "flowing too deep in- depth for a lot of heads."

The Giant Blast: How would you describe yourself as an artist?
Abiss: "Like no other artist." I don't reach for gimmicks. I let the beat take me where I need to be. I think that's where true music gets created. When I perform I don't have a thousand cats on stage with me. An educated MC here to enlightened all.

The Giant Blast: How long have you been doing this?
Abiss: Over 10 years independently.

The Giant Blast: What inspired you to want to pursue a career in the music industry?
Abiss: This is something that I always wanted to do. It's not about watching the Grammys and dreaming. It's about knowing you have talent, something to say and respect for good music to carry on the tradition of MC's, male and female who produced good music for the people.

The Giant Blast: What projects are you working on right now?
Abiss: I am working on The Lift: Estrogen Theory which is my third album. My first 2 albums Apologies Not Accepted and Grip On Reality folks can get on iTunes.com, Cdbaby.com, Napster.com, Rhapsody.com and eMusic.com and many more.

The Giant Blast: Who are you working with?
Abiss: The Sultan of WMS Productions, Beanz of Beanz Beats, Soul Theory Productions. Some of these producers have worked with: Joe Budden, Akrobatik, Lady Luck, Money Ave artist like Murda Mook and more.

The Giant Blast: Who would you like to work with in the future?
Abiss: Anyone that's thinking on my level preservation of Hip-hop through the culture. Being a Queen of the Universal Zulu Nation has instill great pride and ethics of being a Magnificent MC. Shouts to Bambaataa and the Ahki's and Queens in the Nation. Wanna work with Kanye West, 9th Wonder, Pete Rock, Q-tip, DJ Premiere and so many to mention. Artist: J. Electronica, anyone from Wu-Tang, Busta Rhymes, and too many to mention. I think that these are the people I can to continue to bring heat rocks with.

The Giant Blast: One of your stand out tracks is "The Lift", could you explain to the listeners the concept and the message behind the song?
Abiss: My message was to the ladies to embrace who you are as a women because it's getting ugly. Sisters is out here destroying there bodies, just to look good for a video. Butt shots and etc. The creator made me 5 foot 4 and Petite. I am sticking with it. I have no motive to make the Entity upset. Love who you are. You don't need any one else to verify whether you are a queen. That right was given to you when you was born. Shape and mold yourself to have determination and meet your goals. Be mindful that their are people that are more than happy to put obstacles in your way. Young ladies keep your legs closed. Don't open your present for a man that don't deserve it.

The Giant Blast: What are some of your favorite or strongest tracks you feel that you've recorded so far?
Abiss: "How Many", "Dedicated", "Nastalgia", and collab called "Hoodshine" with my dudes Pop-Lodi and Kane, but I think that all of my tracks strikes a different chord.

The Giant Blast: You also run Blazed Up Records correct, what artists do you have on the label?
Abiss: Pop-Lodi, Double Negative, KP The Specialist, The C.O.F.F.Y.N, Tyrell Roberts, Banga Bandanaz, A.Q.G, C.O.S and many other artists. Some I work with closely. Some I help promote by getting them shows, and others by representing them in the Music Publishing world. Soul Accession Ent. is the Publishing Company.

The Giant Blast: What can we expect from Blazed Up Records in the future?
Abiss: We are working on videos, and mixtapes. DJ X-Faxtor, DJ Far, DJ Ames, DJ Green Lantern and many more, and a few Major/ not so major collaborations.

The Giant Blast: What's the future looking like for Abiss?
Abiss: Shows in Miami, Wisconsin and Atlanta. I am getting it in where ever I can outside of Hartford, CT. You can't do too many shows in your home state, then people start not wanting to support if they always see you in CT. So, I have been traveling, seeing the world and doing great performances. I try my best to get and give 100% because that's they only way to be.

The Giant Blast: Where do you see hip hop in 5 years?
Abiss: Continuing to evolve. Hopefully my nephews will be spitting taking after auntie, but also, a non-bullsh*t policy. Its' a lot of people getting fed up. Some of the true prominent MC's won't let this craziness happen again. I know it was time for something new but, everybody got dreads and don't know why, every bodies MC is Bi-sexual and not scared to air it out, every bodies got a new dance, got exotic chicks with fake everything, every bodies an alien, also a lot of rappers going to jail.. So, hip-hop will create more monsters. I would like to see those record label budgets go to those that is serious about their craft.

The Giant Blast: What has been the highlight of your music career so far?
Abiss: Opened up for KRS-one, Nas, Capone & Nore. Met David Bowie, Cuban Linx (he's a real dude, I love that dude.) and a lot of hip hop legends like Grand Wizzard Theodore, Grandmaster Caz, Crazy legs from Rock Steady Crew, Frosty Freeze (R.I.P) and Bambaataa. My biggest 3 highlights was when I was called on stage to spit by Pharcyde and Black Thought from the Roots gave me props and respect. Also, I auditioned for Biv 10 Records in Mike Bivins hotel room in New York City while 702 was filming videos for the label.

The Giant Blast: What's the worst experience you've had in the music industry so far and how did you learn from it?
Abiss: I hired 2 managers. They were a team. 1 manager was always trying to cut the manager out of deals and percentages. They also burned bridges with studios to get me recorded, taking people's money and then people came to ask me about it. Trying to get me to ghost right for wack cat's. Killing relationships. Just bad business. I started to feel like they wasn't working on my behalf. I went to school got my associates degree in Business Management. Started Blazed-Up Records and Soul Accession Ent.

The Giant Blast: Is there anything else you would like to plug or do you have any shout outs?

The Blast Spotlight: Celsius911

The Giant Blast: Who is Celsius 911?
Celsius 911: Celsius911 is the future of hip hop. Celsius911 is the hot headed, cold hearted, energetic new artist that's going to bring about a change in the industry.

The Giant Blast: How long have you been rhyming?
Celsius 911: I started around age 15 just playing with words but started to take it serious when I got attention and good feedback.

The Giant Blast: What influenced you to pursue a career in the rap game?
Celsius 911: I always had a competitive spirit growing up so when I got into hip hop I just naturally wanted to be 1 of the greatest. It really went from battling in the lunchroom to learning how to write songs and I just kept that same competitive edge the entire way.

The Giant Blast: What has been one of the highlights of your career so far?
Celsius 911: There's been a lot of highlights such as being the first artist on 106 and park freestyle Fridays, to making it on the Kings Kounty album with featured artists like; M.O.P., Rass Kass, and Jay-Z, to being one of the members of the alternative group Bro-kin Haylow to being a vice president for an independent label. So there's been a lot of key moments but if I had to choose one I would say it was completing my new album Diary Of An Arthur.

The Giant Blast: What has been one of the worst experiences you've had in the industry so far and how did you learn from it?
Celsius 911: I cant say there's been one specific bad experience but overall there's a lot of fake people in this business and the way I handle it is by being real and staying grounded. I surround myself with positive energy at all times and keep a small circle of people around me that I trust.

The Giant Blast: How would you describe your forthcoming album Diary of an Arthur what can listeners expect?
Celsius 911: Its a look into my mind, my feelings, and my experiences. I'm giving skeptics and fans a chance to walk through the chapters of my life. For example I have a song on the album entitled "Sake" which is a lyrical club joint about a Japanese wine I like to drink called "Sake" then there's a joint called "Superior" where I'm just going crazy with the punch lines and flows cause I feel I'm superior and than there's a record on there called "I Wonder" which speaks about me wondering will I ever find a love that's greater than music. So overall the album is fun, upbeat, but also at the same time real and harsh which turns out to be all the things we all go through as human beings.

The Giant Blast: Who did you work with for the album?
Celsius 911: I worked with my long time producer ZukHits. He produced the entire album. All the artists I have on there are other artists that I respect such as; Tah Jiggs, Pino Grigio, Blacks, Bryce, and Mic L to name a few.

The Giant Blast: Who would you like to work with in the future?
Celsius 911: There's too many names to mention. I have a high appreciation for music overall so anybody that puts their heart into their music is a person I'm down to work with.

The Giant Blast: Besides rap, what e lse do you get into?
Celsius 911: Definitely writing so for all artists that need help writing their next hit, get at me celsiusbk911@gmail.com. Company wise I'm the 3rd partner of a company called Triforce. Triforce does everything from music producion, to song writing, to mixing, to management. We help get artists through the entire process. The CEO"s of the company are ZukHits,Blacks, and myself(celsius). I also have a promotional company called Mic-Fest that involves 3 partners as well;Permiss,Bobby Steelz, and myself(celsius). We throw music related events ranging from basketball tournaments with live performances,to showcases for up and coming talent, to modeling events featuring up and coming talent.

The Giant Blast: Is there anything else you would like to plug, any shout outs?
Celsius 911: Diary Of An Arthur coming soon, the remix of my club record "carnival" coming even sooner. Celsius911 is the name and Diary Of An Arthur is the campaign. Also definitely Heavy shout out to the Triforce bosses, shout out to Mic-Fest,shout out to Aurora Nights, shout out to my boy Mikey T the Movie Star ,shout out to Brooklyn of course and shout out to Baltimore. Shout out to everyone that's been in support of the whole Celsius911 and Diary Of An Arthur movement. Also of course big shout out to the giant blast. Check me out on

The Blast Spotlight: The One Kemist

ADD THE ONE KEMIST ON MYSPACE AT
http://www.myspace.com/theonekemist

The Giant Blast: How has 2010 been for The One Kemist so far?
The One Kemist: Well 2010, I've just been on the grind trying to negotiate a couple of label deals (NOTE: this interview took place before The One Kemist's recent signing to A&M Records). Meanwhile I'm promoting my new album, along with the single "Throw It Up" produced by Thanos; (shout outs to him). Also preparing for a show I'm doing for Superbowl, Probowl and NBA Allstars weekend. I'm about to wrap up three new music videos. First one "The Letter," then "Throw It Up," and the last one "Question About Our Love" featuring Young Marquis. All those songs are off the album. In my personal life I've also been blessed this year so far!

The Giant Blast: What are your plans for this coming Summer?
The One Kemist: This summer I will be touring and promoting the album all summer, matter of fact all year until I go platinum.

The Giant Blast: Your forthcoming album drops in May what can we expect to hear on it?
The One Kemist: For the album expect the truth, expect real hip hop. I want perfection, so I gave my all on it. For me this album will be a classic. I just hope others can respect and appreciate my craft.

The Giant Blast: Who are you working with for this album?
The One Kemist: Just my fam Young Marquis. He is a talented up and coming artist. You can check him out on myspace, and youtube, he is doing his thing. I have 2 others I'm hoping to collaborate with, but right now its not for certain.

The Giant Blast: What type of beats bring out the best in The One Kemist?
The One Kemist: The beats that brings out the best in me are the beats with hardness to it. Just raw, with a boom and bap. Something hot but different as long as I can rock to it without the words being on it. Those beats I take my time on, really listen to it for a whole day before I write anything.

The Giant Blast: Making music and entertaining is in your blood, you come from a long line of musicians and performers, could you break that down for us?
The One Kemist: Well I'm a third generation musician. My grandfather, his name is Jack Philpot. He is very well known and respected jazz musician. He's been doing it for over 40 years; touring, movies and TV shows. You can google him just to know more about his history. Then, my uncle Brian Philpot a-k-a DJ Cut Creator. For those who do not know he is LL Cool Js' DJ and has been for over 20 years. He is also well respected in the industry. That is why I am the third generation.

The Giant Blast: Do you plan on collaborating with any of your family members or have you already?
The One Kemist: I have already collaborated with my cousin Young Marquis. My grandfather and uncle we have been talking about a couple of ventures we can do together.

The Giant Blast: You also have a DVD coming out soon too, put together by Mr. Self Taught, could you tell us a little about that?
The One Kemist: Yes, Self Taught, first I would like to say this brother is a good dude and very humble. We came together to capture footage of a real MC on the grind. To me that was "ill," "real," "raw," and "honest" you feel me. So I'm proud of my grind. Look out for: "On The Grind" with The One Kemist hosted by Self Taught. We have more projects comig up for example the behind the scenes/ making of Wordz of The Soul album.
